(A.S.K.) Assisting with Services and Knowledge
What We Do: A.S.K. is a Comprehensive Risk Counseling and Services (CRCS; formerly Prevention Case Management) program designed to support risk reduction behavior change by assessing HIV risk behaviors, other physical and mental health needs, as well as psychosocial and economic needs. CRCS is a tool that combines the intensive, individualized and well-rounded approach of individual case management, with the specific goal of reducing high-risk behaviors related to the acquisition or transmission of HIV. Referrals are offered for needed services.
A.S.K. works with gay and bisexual men, and other men who have sex with men, and transgender women through one-on-one case management meetings. A.S.K. provides multiple, one-on-one counseling sessions to help the participant assess their personal risk and create an individualized plan to initiate and sustain behavioral change. By understanding the vast and complex factors that can impact HIV risk behaviors, A.S.K. works with the participant to choose realistic and attainable behavioral change goals.
